A 30 Count Box Is Not Automatically a 30 Day Supply

A 30-count box contains 30 catheters. How long that quantity lasts depends on the number actually used during your planning period. For purchasing, treat 30 as the pack size. It is not a promised number of days of supply.

Start with an established quantity

Choose the dates you are budgeting for, then use an item count based on your already-established actual consumption. An estimate of 45 items means 45 items for the period you selected. It does not mean 45 days or recommend a daily rate. This guide explains purchasing arithmetic; it does not determine how often a catheter should be used or replaced.

Keep the period and quantity together in your notes. If actual consumption changes, update the purchasing estimate instead of assuming that every box will last the same number of days.

Subtract the items you already have

Count the usable items already on hand before calculating an additional order. If your established estimate is 45 items and you already have 15, the additional quantity is 30 items: one 30-count box.

If you have no items on hand, purchasing 45 items in full 30-count boxes requires two boxes. Two boxes provide 60 items, leaving 15 after that example quantity is used. These numbers illustrate inventory planning, not a suggested quantity to use or buy.

Round up to whole boxes

Subtract existing usable inventory from your quantity estimate, with zero as the minimum additional quantity. Divide that additional quantity by 30 and round up to a whole number. This gives the number of full boxes in the purchase calculation.
